How do I embed a TAB in Code39_Std_extended

I'm using the library (love it) and doing barcodes with it. The problem I have is we need to generate a Code39 ext barcode with a number, a tab, and then another number

(1234 {tab} 42) for use with an application we have. Nothing seems to work for us. Other barcode tools have me either enter a VBTab or a $I and it works.

thanks

Try using 1234+$$W-$42

Did not work. Trying with $$I not W (I is the Horizontal tab character). what does the +$$W and the -$ actually do in the string? Knowing that may assist me overall.

It's from Zebra's ZPL2 Programming guide: https://www.zebra.com/content/dam/zebra/manuals/en-us/software/zpl-zbi2-pm-en.pdf - look at page 69.
+$ goes into extended mode, -$ leaves. $I is HT, so +$$I-$ should have worked..
